Cellos for sale

VC67: Cello

Maker: William II Forster

Date: 1793

Origin: London England

William Forster II of London 1793

Size: full size cello

Length of Back: 29 7/8"

Recently setup by David Folland and myself, this cello has experienced a renewed awakening and is sounding astonishingly brilliant. As a solo instrument the projection and quality of tone is truly amazing!

The back is formed of two pieces of maple cut just off the quarter, narrow figure running across it's breadth. The ribs are of similar wood selection to that of the back; the scroll is of somewhat plainer maple.

The top is of spruce, two pieces, narrow to medium width grain, varied. The varnish is deep red brown color over a golden yellow brown ground. The cello is in overall good condition.

The cello has original papers by Hamma AC. of Stuttgart and a recent appraisal by Warren & Son of Chicago.

Length: 29 7/8"

Upper Bout:13 5/16"

Middle Bout: 9 5/16" scant

Lower Bout:17 1/16"
