GEORGES MOUGENOT
Luthier du Conservatoire royal do Musique
BRUNELLES, RUE des CHAPELIERS 24

Description:

This cello made in the latter half of the 19th century by Georges Mougonet is considered to be one of the finest examples of his work. In superb condition, it plays like a dream with a full-blooded rich and earthy tone. It will fill a hall, no problem with projection, this is not a typical French sounding cello.

The cello has been appraised and certified by Darnton & Hersh Fine Violins and Rembert Wurlitzer, Inc. It is in excellent condition.

The two piece top is of regular, fine-grained spruce widening to the flanks. The two-piece back is of quarter-cut maple with a faint figure. The ribs and scroll are similar wood to the back. The varnish is red-brown over golden ground.

Length of Back: 757mm
Upper bouts: 350mm
Middle Bouts: 241mm
